Add More Victim-Focused Prosecutors: Expand the Special Victims Bureau with two additional prosecutors to address rising domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, child abuse, and human trafficking cases.

Integrate a Social Worker: Hire an in-house social worker to better support crime victims and to connect offenders with mental health, addiction recovery, and other services, to reduce repeat offenses. Support Group Violence Intervention (GVI) in Polk County: After years of work, GVI training is scheduled for October 2026 – GVI is an evidence-based strategy proven to reduce gun violence in every community where it has been implemented.

Modernize Office Technology: In December 2026, we are upgrading to the most utilized case management software for county attorney's offices in Iowa, to increase efficiency and better support the Polk County Attorneys Office’s dedicated staff.

Implementing a lethality questionnaire by September 2026, to better serve victims of domestic violence, harrassment, and related crimes, to reduce risk of victims being seriously injured or murdered.  This will provide better screening at the time police are called to the incident, and provide more information to judges as they are deciding on bond for defendants. 

Creating a Child Internet Safety class for Polk County parents, free of charge, in September 2026 and offered monthly thereafter, to teach parents how to keep their children safer from online predators.
